COVID-19 Updates

3/12/2020

Good Morning Family, Guardians, and Friends,

As you are aware,  COVID-19 (Corona Virus) pandemic is a concern in the greater Washington, DC region. We here at Community Works is working with DBH and DOH to address any concerns and make proper adjustments to ensure the health and safety of residents, staff, and all visitors. Here are some steps and polices we are implementing in the facilities that have already started.
  • Management has implement a daily surface (doorknobs, handrails, remotes, tables, metals, etc) disinfecting using EPA recommended solutions (Bleach and Water or Lysol Professional). This is added measures on top of staff routine daily cleaning.
  • All residents will undergo temperature monitoring weekly and with random selections throughout the week,
  • Hand sanitizing station will be available at the door. All visitors must use hand sanitizer (or soap and water alternative) before signing in and interacting with consumers. Those who deny this process will not be allowed in the facility.
  • Any resident with flu like symptoms doctors will be notified immediately.
  • Emergency supplies  and Policies has been reviewed and updated for FY 2020.
  • Temp Agency is currently being considered for emergency staffing needs in the event staffing schedule is interrupted due to potential quarantine or illness.

As we are constantly making adjustments daily, we understand that these policies and changes will require voluntary effort from everyone involved. We are thankful for our dedicated staff that is working around the clock to provide exceptional services to a vulnerable (and potential high risk) population. We asked that anyone who may be experiencing flu like illness or symptoms to refrain from visiting the facility. In the meantime, we will provide periodic updates to address any future concerns.

How to Protect Yourself
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds multiple times a day. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home when feeling sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
